Gifts From The Sea
The shells I find on the beach are exquisite. Each has its own distinct personality and unique appearance. Some are perfectly shaped and beautifully tinted; others are difficult to even identify as shells. I especially treasure those that have evidence of the presence of other sea creatures and relentless storms. I thoroughly enjoy creating art with what nature has provided.
Fairie Stones & Shells
Many years ago, I was gifted a stone or shell with a dozen or so tiny holes, and I was told that this “fairie stone” possessed special powers, among them, entry into the fairie world as I looked through the holes. The holder of such a stone also would have luck, health, and protection. These fairy stones, unlike their Staurolite crystal cousins, had holes bored by mollusks and the sea. I began collecting these shells and stones, and adorned them with all manner of finery, including hand-crocheted wire, crystals, gemstones, and charms. They were already beautiful…I just had fun emphasizing their uniqueness.May you be blessed with all purported powers of the fairie stone!
Merged by Heat
My first creative efforts using glass began with stained glass classes. What fun! When I took glass-blowing classes and fire was introduced, the options broadened. Enameling, melting glass with a torch to apply to metal, was another step along my glass art exploration path. And then …I received my own kiln and my artistic life changed. How thrilling it is to open a kiln and see what has been created! I delight in the simple pieces and i am fascinated by the layered dichroic pieces. I hope you like them, too.
I Paint upon Glass
The discovery of alcohol ink opened a whole new avenue for experimentation. Tile, paper, and glass were all explored as bases for my new medium. The reflection of hand-painted alcohol ink on glass cabochons is stunning. You’ll fall in love with our selection of fine artisan jewelry!
